Frequently Asked QuestionsDo Chiropractic Adjustments Hurt?
The first time patients get adjusted, they are a little nervous wondering if it will hurt or not. When the adjustment occurs, almost all are very surprised that they felt nothing at all except a feeling of immediate relaxation in the joints adjusted. The actual adjustment of the joints does not hurt. If you have ever cracked your knuckles, this is the about the same feeling as having your back adjusted. Will I Need X-Rays? There are several reasons to have x-rays taken before you receive your first adjustment. The Chiropractor will perform a detailed examination to determine if X-rays or possibly an MRI is needed to begin treatment. There are many times when X-rays are not needed to begin safe and effective treatment. All questions about X-rays will be fully answered by the Chiropractor. How Long Will My Treatment Take? Of course this depends on many factors. We have to determine the cause of your problem and then create an appropriate treatment plan. I have practiced for over 30 years and have seen patients find complete lasting relief in 1 week while others have taken several months. Certainly, the severity of the condition will dictate the recovery time. Your treatment plan is designed to get you back to health as quickly as possible. On average, patients of varying conditions respond very well in the 3 to 6 week range. How Much Does Treatment Cost? The fact is there is very little in healthcare that is not expensive today. Chiropractic and physical therapy is no different. That said, we will work with your insurance carrier to make sure you get the maximum benefits due you. If you were injured in an auto accident or work accident we will work with the appropriate people to make sure your treatment is covered. We accept medicare as well as most commercial insurances. If you do not have insurance, we offer convenient payment plans. I will do everything possible to make sure any person that needs care will get care. Is There An Age Restriction To Get Treatment? No. Chiropractic and Physical Therapy is for everyone. From very young children to grandma and grandpa, Chiropractic works. If you have pain, we can help. Can I Get Physical Therapy Without Seeing The Chiropractor? Yes. We have many patients who come to our clinic for Physical Therapy with orders from their family doctor or other specialist. Also within our own clinic we have patients who we have determined Physical Therapy alone is the right choice. How Long Will My Appointment Take? While it depends on what treatments you are receiving, most patients that receive PT and chiropractic can expect at least 45 - 60 minutes for their care. Patients receiving PT only will usually require at least 30 minutes while getting an adjustment on average would be about 15 minutes. Of course new patient examinations and re-examinations may add another 30 to 60 minutes to your appointment. We are very well equipped and staffed and we do run on time. Once I Start Care, May I Use Any Clinic? Yes, we have many patients who start care in one clinic but because of work schedules and other factors it may be easier to be seen in a different location. The care is consistent and all your records are electronic so there is no problems being treated in any facility. |
